A smaller, short-term surface parking area will offer 517 extra vehicle spaces for visitors to Bicester Village.
The proposal for a 1,246-space, three-story automobile and bicycle facility received backing from Cherwell District Council in 2024.
However, last year, officials gave the green light to a temporary car park operating for five years from its opening date, creating opportunity to assess when the larger multi-story facility becomes necessary.
Three additional significant developments at the Oxford Road location remain in progress and are on track for completion by October.
Western Terrace
The Western Terrace represents a three-story addition to the village’s western edge, forming phase four, which wrapped up in 2017.
The ground level will feature extra shopping options, restaurants and cafes, while the first and second floors will house expanded visitor services.
St Edburg’s Park
Preliminary construction work has commenced for St Edburg’s Park, a new five-acre green space open to the public, designed to accommodate activities for all ages including recreational play, casual sports, family gatherings and community events.
The project will also establish fresh routes for walkers and cyclists, connecting the town center with nearby residential areas as part of Bicester’s growing network of green spaces.
Construction should conclude during autumn, with full public opening scheduled for spring the following year.
The initiative is providing an extra £1.2m toward sporting facilities in Bicester to improve local athletic amenities, including those at Whiteland’s Farm.
Middlesex Stoney Roundabout
Construction on the Middleton Stoney roundabout commences in mid-April, establishing a vital connection between western Bicester, the town center and surrounding communities.
The design will enhance traffic movement and incorporates dedicated bike lanes, connected sidewalk pathways, several new zebra crossings and a traffic-light-controlled crossing, according to officials.
Multiple phases of lane restrictions and temporary road closures will occur, with adjustments made as work advances.

The new active transportation routes being built alongside the upgraded Middleton Stoney roundabout will complement the broader investment occurring throughout the region, and collectively, we anticipate these enhancements will strengthen community health and help create a more lively and environmentally responsible Bicester for the future.
