A34 traffic held up by urgent repairs until 7pm

Published on

Information has been received about a road traffic incident on the A34 in the northbound direction close to Islip, where one carriageway remains closed in both lanes to allow barrier restoration work to take place. Road management staff are attending the location. Motorists are being told to allocate additional journey time.

The AA has reported that slow-moving traffic and a single lane restriction because of immediate barrier repairs are impacting the A34 in both directions near Kidlington Junction. This follows an incident at 10:35. One lane remains blocked on either side while repair operations continue.

Traffic England has stated that typical traffic movement should return sometime between 7pm and 7:30pm this evening. Existing delay times are roughly thirty minutes above normal.

Build-ups of traffic are presently appearing northbound around Hinksey Hill and southbound toward the M40 junction. Repair work is being carried out near the Bletchingdon exit.

Compounding the situation…

A vehicle that has stopped is blocking the A34 northbound road section between the A420 at Botley and the A44 at Peartree. One lane is currently blocked, resulting in hold-ups. HighwaysEAST operatives are present and handling the circumstances. Drivers are being asked to travel with caution and factor in additional time for their journeys.
