Queen’s Head pub in Crowmarsh Gifford still for sale after six months

Published on

The Queen’s Head in Crowmarsh Gifford, situated close to Wallingford in Oxfordshire, remains on the market for £585,000, having failed to find a purchaser more than half a year after first being advertised.

The venue was listed for sale by Everard Cole through Rightmove in February, yet despite the passage of six months a buyer has yet to emerge.

Beyond the public house itself, the premises comprise three double bedrooms, a family bathroom and a lounge.

The establishment features a predominantly open plan trading space, wooden floorboards, open fireplaces and visible ceiling beams.

It also offers a vaulted dining room and a conventional bar fitted with both attached and free-standing seating.

At the rear lies a commercial kitchen equipped with extraction ventilation, alongside customer lavatories, while behind the bar is a spacious lower ground floor cellar permitting deliveries to the front of the building.

The exterior includes a raised decked terrace, a lawned trade garden to the rear and an extensive tarmac parking area providing roughly 40 spaces.

The 0.5-acre property sits on the village main road and, according to its own site, operates daily except on Mondays and Tuesdays.

With 239 Google Reviews accumulated, it holds a 4.3-star average, with numerous patrons praising the quality of the cuisine and the friendly atmosphere, and one resident describing it as something special to them.

Nevertheless, in 2024 the venue received a two-out-of-five rating for food hygiene from South Oxfordshire District Council’s environmental health inspectors.

Previously, in 2020, the operators were required to pay almost £6,500 after violations of food safety regulations were uncovered, including evidence of rodent excrement in food storage zones and insufficient cleanliness in the kitchen.
