A pair of restaurateurs have spoken of their delight after earning praise from one of the food industry’s most prestigious guides just half a year after launching their venture.

The Corn Room on Corn Street in Witney has proven a huge success with customers since welcoming its first diners in March.

Paul Piper and Jay Bartlett established and operate the independently-owned establishment, which offers high-quality, seasonally-inspired cuisine in an informal setting.

Already no stranger to recognition, the pair previously secured the distinguished titles of Best Restaurant and Best Newcomer at the Ox in a Box Food Awards in July.

Their newest accolade has arrived from an even more eminent authority in the world of culinary appreciation – the Michelin guide.

The Corn Room has been featured in the internationally celebrated hotel and restaurant publication, revealed in August as one of the latest selections by the inspectors.

In their assessment of the new Witney venue, the inspectors remarked on what an excellent neighbourhood dining spot it represents. They noted that the experienced partnership of Paul Piper and Jay Bartlett is now channelling all its expertise into The Corn Room. They observed that Bartlett prepares classical, unfussy dishes that let diners truly appreciate the quality of the produce, with the menu designed for sharing so guests can sample a variety of offerings. They added that the pricing is reasonable while Piper guarantees polished and gracious service that complements the high standard of the cooking.
