A practical endurance contest is calling on duos to traverse Oxfordshire while relying on ingenuity and cooperation.
Homeless Oxfordshire has unveiled Race Across Oxfordshire, a stamina challenge modelled on the BBC programme Race Across the World, aimed at generating money for individuals without stable housing.
Contestants will navigate the county in paired teams while operating within strict financial limits and depending entirely on their own capabilities.
Tim Wraith, corporate partnerships manager at Homeless Oxfordshire, stated that the organisation seeks pairs prepared to venture beyond familiar territory and tackle an undertaking unlike any other.
The competition extends beyond simply crossing the finish line.
It evaluates collaborative effort and inventiveness, mirroring the determination displayed daily by those the organisation assists.
The goal is for the local population to unite in helping achieve the fundraising target and create meaningful change for residents throughout the county.
Scheduled for Monday, May 11, participants will journey between concealed waypoints throughout Oxfordshire while undertaking assignments that examine their composure, determination, and analytical abilities.
The contest commences at the voco Oxford Spires Hotel and concludes at a final secret venue.
A celebration ceremony will be hosted at the same establishment on Monday, May 18, where victors will be revealed and trophies distributed.
The charity hopes to attract 20 pairings and is urging inhabitants, coworkers, and enthusiasts of adventure to join.
Every pairing is required to submit a £200 entry charge and secure at least £1,000 in pledged donations.
Money collected will support Homeless Oxfordshire’s operations, which offer shelter and expert assistance for over 170 individuals experiencing homelessness nightly.
The initiative is backed by Oxford Economics.
Adrian Cooper, executive chairman at Oxford Economics, commented that as a body with strong connections in Oxford, supporting projects that enhance surrounding communities brings considerable pride.
Collaborating with Homeless Oxfordshire for Race Across Oxfordshire demonstrates dedication to the city and county where operations are based, as well as backing groups striving to alleviate homelessness and foster a more accessible local economy.
Competitors must depend solely on their own expertise and abilities to finish the course.
Challenges encountered en route are crafted to test partnership and physical endurance.
With places strictly limited, prospective participants should secure their spot by April 1.
Homeless Oxfordshire also welcomes companies interested in sponsorship opportunities.
