A baby binturong has ventured outside for the first time, delighting both staff and guests at the Oxfordshire reptile centre.

The youngster, nicknamed a bintlet, arrived safely to mother Willow at Crocodiles of the World and had been staying warm inside until now.

The small creature made its debut appearance while being supervised by its parent, shortly after workers had filmed a message of gratitude.

Shaun Foggett, who established Crocodiles of the World, explained that the team had just wrapped up recording a video to express appreciation for kind comments received, noting that the infant had not yet explored the outdoor area.

The moment filming concluded, the youngster wandered outside for its inaugural venture, and fortunately the team succeeded in documenting the occasion on camera.

According to Foggett, the entire group found it to be an enchanting experience.

Willow has proven to be an attentive and vigilant mother since giving birth.

Father Winnie has remained at a distance as Willow preferred, though he should commence involvement with childcare responsibilities before long.

Binturongs, referred to interchangeably as bearcats, carry a Vulnerable classification on the IUCN Red List.

These animals inhabit regions throughout South and Southeast Asia, where numbers are diminishing because of forest destruction and unlawful capture.

Guests at the facility might catch a glimpse of the youngster during less busy periods as it becomes more adventurous.

Crocodiles of the World prioritises protecting crocodilians alongside other endangered creatures through educational initiatives, breeding schemes, and visitor programmes.
