M40 reopens after overturned vehicle cleared between High Wycombe and Loudwater

A vehicle that had flipped onto its side caused the closure of the M40 in the section where Oxfordshire meets Buckinghamshire.

The occurrence took place shortly after 10am on Friday, March 20 between Junction 4 at High Wycombe and Junction 3 at Loudwater.

At that time, National Highways announced that all three lanes heading south had been shut because of an overturned vehicle.

Crews from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service were present at the location as lines of vehicles formed throughout the morning.

Motorists took to social media seeking clarification on when the hold-up would ease, with vehicles at a complete standstill.

National Highways subsequently announced just after 11am that the carriageway had reopened with traffic flow resuming as usual.

A communication from the agency stated that the M40 southbound between J4 High Wycombe and J3 Loudwater had reopened after an overturned vehicle, and thanked those affected for their understanding.
