Hinksey Outdoor Pool reopening delayed due to plant room works

The return of Oxford’s sole heated outdoor swimming facility has been pushed back as maintenance continues in the equipment area.

Hinksey Outdoor Pool, situated on Abingdon Road, shut its doors last September for the cold months and had been slated to welcome swimmers again this April for the warmer period.

Nevertheless, the scheduled relaunch of the 35-metre freeform outdoor pool has been postponed because of unexpected developments.

Richard Monger, employed by Leisure Solutions Community Trust, explained that there is a minor setback to the swimming season because of unexpected issues, but staff are making every effort to get things back on schedule.

The pool, which has served as a cherished seasonal attraction at the south Oxford park for many years, is marking its 90th anniversary this season.

A specific reopening date remains undetermined at this time.
