Thames Valley Police confirmed that on Thursday, March 19, officers apprehended two individuals suspected of theft at a McDonald’s branch located at Milton Interchange in Oxfordshire. The pair were discovered consuming food at the fast-food outlet following an alleged theft operation.
PCSOs from the force had earlier received intelligence indicating that the two men had been removing heating systems from a construction site in Wantage. A force representative acknowledged the work of the officers involved.
The spokesperson stated that the community support officers demonstrated their understanding of the local area by anticipating which route the offenders might take to evade capture. Their assessment proved accurate, as the suspected getaway vehicle was located at the McDonald’s restaurant where the men were eating. Officers maintained surveillance from a distance while directing uniformed colleagues to the location.
One of the two men attempted to flee upon the arrival of road policing units but was intercepted by a PCSO. Both individuals were subsequently detained on suspicion of burglary. Investigators subsequently discovered the stolen heating systems concealed within the vehicle.
