A Bicester-area resident has escaped immediate custody after admitting to strangling a woman at sentencing.

Przemyslaw Chomicki, residing at The Village Close in Upper Arncott, received his sentence at Oxford Crown Court on March 20.

The 36-year-old initially appeared in the same court on February 17, scheduled to face trial on two counts of deliberate strangulation of a woman occurring in 2023.

However, he entered a guilty plea to one offence dating from November 18, 2023.

The second count, relating to an incident on June 4, 2023, was directed to remain on the court file.

Prior to sentencing, Judge Michael Gledhill KC requested a pre-sentence report and permitted Chomicki bail subject to conditions pending the hearing.

Chomicki received 18 months imprisonment suspended for two years for the single count of intentional strangulation.

Additionally, he must complete 150 hours of community service within 12 months and pay a victim surcharge of £187.
