An Albanian national is facing trial in connection with a 2023 assault in Oxford.

Leonard Hoxha, residing at Ashmole Place in Oxford, attended Oxford Crown Court on Monday, 23 March.

The 43-year-old faces a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The alleged assault occurred on 19 April 2023 in Oxford, with Hoxha accused of causing injuries to Luke Bryan.

The proceedings had initially been due to involve a second defendant, Aaron Sadler.

However, the prosecution withdrew its case against Sadler and he was discharged.

A jury was sworn in on Monday, 23 March, with the prosecution expected to present its opening case on Tuesday, 24 March.

The hearing is expected to conclude within approximately two days.

Hoxha requires the services of an Albanian interpreter throughout the proceedings.

The case remains ongoing.
