UK mobile users urged to text 85075 to check if they can cut bills by switching

Published on

UK mobile phone customers are being advised to send a text to a complimentary number right away to potentially reduce their yearly costs by a significant amount.

TotallyMoney specialists are encouraging all mobile customers to send the word INFO to 85075 before anticipated price increases come into effect in April.

The message costs nothing and enables users to discover whether their contract has ended and they are eligible to switch providers.

James McCaffrey from TotallyMoney explained that with April approaching, there has been considerable discussion about mobile contract price increases, with references to inflation-linked rises, percentage-based hikes, and fresh Ofcom regulations making the whole situation seem far more complex than necessary.

The method to determine whether you can change networks and begin saving money involves texting INFO to 85075. Shortly afterward, your existing provider will send a message informing you whether your current contract remains active or whether you are able to depart.

Changing providers proves simpler than many anticipate, with the procedure typically finalised within a single business day. Customers should browse by approaching providers directly and using comparison platforms, and once a superior offer has been located, they should sign up and their new provider will handle everything, including moving their phone number across.

Before making any commitment, customers should verify the signal strength in their local area and at their workplace, and should remember to review international roaming expenses if they travel overseas. Additionally, if a customer does decide to switch and subsequently finds themselves dissatisfied, they will have a minimum of fourteen days to cancel without incurring any financial penalty.

Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has previously urged viewers to send INFO to 85075.

Lewis has also recommended that everyone consider moving to inexpensive Sim-only tariffs, which are available through price comparison websites, while identifying a low-cost network that operates on the same signal as their existing provider.

O2, EE, Vodafone and Three constitute the primary signal networks, with more affordable mobile companies such as Tesco and GiffGaff renting their signal.

Sending PAC to 65075 will generate a porting code, which should then be provided to the new network to request that the phone number be transferred to the new company.

Money Saving Expert added that after sending this text message, customers will likely receive a reply acknowledging their desire to leave and providing the PAC code, while also offering an incentive to stay. This incentive may cost less than half the original price.
