Banbury Marlborough Road NCP car park to close March 27

Published on

National Car Parks (NCP) has gone into administration, with 22 of its parking sites across England and Wales shutting their doors this week, including a location in Oxfordshire.

Joint administrators Zelf Hussain, Rachael Wilkinson and Toby Banfield from PwC stated that the chosen sites are commercially unviable.

As a consequence, these car parks will cease operations for customers at 11.59pm on Friday, March 27.

According to PwC, the shutdown of these parking facilities will result in 33 employees losing their jobs on Tuesday, March 31, and they will be supported through the statutory redundancy payments process.

Although 22 car parks are shutting down, the company’s other 318 sites will continue trading and no additional closures have been confirmed as of publication.

The Banbury Marlborough Road NCP car park will close as the company battles administration.

Banbury’s Cherwell Centre NCP car park is not impacted by these closures.

Among the sites shutting are several locations in London and Leicester, as well as venues in Bournemouth, Birmingham, Luton and elsewhere.

The Marlborough Road (OX16 5EX) car park in Banbury will remain accessible until 11.59pm on Friday, March 27.

Several retailers have entered administration in 2026, with others announcing extensive store closure programmes.

Fashion label LK Bennett entered administration in January and began winding-down sales at its outlets.

John Noon and Mark Firmin of Alvarez & Marsal Europe LLP were named as joint administrators.

Subsequently, the LK Bennett brand and its associated intellectual property were purchased by American company Gordon Brothers, which also holds ownership of Laura Ashley and Poundland.

Alongside this, major high street retailers such as River Island, Primark and Poundland have been compelled to shut stores, while Revolution and BrewDog have closed 21 and 38 pubs respectively.

UK construction firm Onespace Group, headquartered in Knutsford near Manchester and focused on commercial office space development, has also recently entered administration.

UK beauty company Beauty Bay filed for administration this month but was rescued.

A French-owned enterprise called AA Investments Group acquired it for an undisclosed sum, preserving stores and employment.

Russell & Bromley, Moores, Claire’s and The Original Factory Shop, Quiz, Denby and airline Royal Air Philippines have also entered administration recently.
