Hawkstone Farmers Choir release limited-edition vinyl to support farming mental health

The Hawkstone Farmers Choir have taken a significant step forward after gaining Amanda Holden’s golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent.

The group was initially established by Jeremy Clarkson in the Cotswolds to promote his alcoholic beverage range and consists entirely of working British farmers.

The ensemble performed on Britain’s Got Talent at the weekend, appearing on Saturday 21 March, when judge Amanda Holden activated the golden buzzer during their audition at the Birmingham Hippodrome.

This exceptional recognition, which advances the 32-member group directly to the live semi-finals, was awarded after they performed the Elbow hit One Day Like This.

Mr Clarkson was visibly moved by the act and took to Instagram to post an unedited video capturing his immediate response.

He stated he had watched Britain’s Got Talent for the first time specifically because the Hawkstone Choir were competing, describing them as fantastic and appearing close to tears. He noted that all the performers are farmers who labour extremely hard for minimal financial return, and witnessing them on stage with such overwhelming affection in the auditorium left him emotional. He added that the performance demonstrated public appreciation for farmers and that they were thoroughly deserving of praise.

With Mental Health Awareness Month approaching in May, the choir is now channeling their television success into practical support for the agricultural community.

Hawkstone announced on Thursday 26 March that a special-edition vinyl record would be released, with every penny of revenue going to the mental health organisation Shout.

The timing aims to raise awareness and focus attention on mental wellbeing within farming communities nationwide, keeping the issue prominent ahead of May.

The exclusive vinyl features the tracks F**k Me It’s Good, It’s The Dog’s Nuts, Apples, and The Stout National Anthem.

Sarah Kendrick, clinical director at Shout, commented that the Hawkstone Farmers Choir has amplified awareness of mental health difficulties affecting numerous people in agriculture. She expressed gratitude for being the charitable partner for this initiative, noting that the money generated would be crucial for training additional volunteers and maintaining support for anyone in farming who finds themselves overwhelmed.

Statistics indicate that 95 percent of farmers below the age of 40 consider poor mental health a serious concern within their sector.

The collaboration between Hawkstone and Shout offers a complimentary, private, round-the-clock text support service. Those working in agriculture who require assistance can message HAWKSTONE to 85258 to connect with a trained volunteer at any hour.

The special vinyl release can be pre-ordered exclusively through the Hawkstone website.
