Recent proceedings at Oxford Magistrates’ Court included the following cases:
PERRY WEBB, aged 29 and residing in Nightingale Avenue, Oxford, admitted responsibility for 12 instances of shoplifting occurring throughout February and March of the current year. The combined worth of stolen merchandise totaled £2,926.35. Additionally, he acknowledged possession of crack cocaine, a class A substance, in Oxford on March 31 this year. The court imposed a six-month custodial sentence, suspended for a period of 12 months, along with compensation of £2,926.35. The illegal substances were ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.
JACK BOWERS, aged 36, of Tyrrells Way in Sutton Courtenay, Abingdon, was convicted of harassing a woman in Sutton Courtenay between June 18 and July 21 of the previous year. He received a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months. A 12-month exclusion from a specific area in Sutton Courtenay was imposed, alongside a three-year restraining order. He was also ordered to pay £400 in costs and adhere to the supervising officer’s requirements to attend appointments for up to 20 days.
ASHLEY FOSTER, aged 35 and living in St Mary’s Road, Oxford, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm in Oxford on October 26 of the previous year. He was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment and ordered to pay £250 in compensation.
MICHAEL STOKES, aged 41, of Walm Lane, London, admitted to shoplifting in Kidlington on February 11 this year. The value of the stolen items amounted to £71.70. He was directed to pay £85 in costs and complete 80 hours of community service within 12 months.
JIMMY PERRY, aged 33, of Third Avenue, Enfield, was convicted of refusing to identify a driver suspected of an offense in Kidlington on May 27 of the previous year. He was ordered to pay £325 in costs, a £72 victim surcharge, and a £180 fine, in addition to receiving three penalty points.
JAKUB SZULC, aged 25, of Brome Place in Headington, Oxford, pleaded guilty to three counts of creating indecent images of children in Oxford on December 13, 2022. The material comprised 14 category A, 23 category B, and 120 category C images. He received an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, and was required to complete 26 days of rehabilitation activities and attend up to 10 appointments as directed by the supervising officer. He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £187 victim surcharge.
ARTHUR MCDONAGH, aged 33, of Edgecombe Road in Headington, Oxford, pleaded guilty to assault by beating in Oxford on October 30 of the previous year. He was ordered to pay £400 in costs and £100 in compensation, complete 100 hours of unpaid work within 12 months, and prohibited from entering the Prince of Wales premises on Horspath Road for 18 months.
RODRIGO SILVA, aged 40, of Westbury Crescent, Oxford, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol in a Range Rover on the A420 at Buckland on December 22, 2024, with 46 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. He also admitted to criminal damage, assault by beating, and driving without third-party insurance on the same occasion. The court ordered him to pay £400 in costs, a £114 victim surcharge, and £1,100 in compensation. He must complete 120 hours of community service within 12 months and was disqualified from driving for three years.
IBRAHIM REGISFORD, aged 22, of Poplar Grove in Kennington, Oxford, pleaded guilty to failing to attend police bail in High Wycombe on March 13 this year.
