Thousands of participants are prepare to line the streets of Oxford this Sunday for the sold-out Bidwells Oxford 10k event.

The race, scheduled for May 10 in Oxford, forms part of the Town and Gown series and stands as Oxford’s sole closed-route competition, offering runners an uncommon chance to traverse traffic-free roadways.

Beginning on Banbury Road, the course passes through urban green spaces and alongside several of Oxford’s famous landmarks.

Muscular Dystrophy UK benefits from the event, which was established in 1982 to honor Daniel Cleaver, a local child who had muscular dystrophy.

Approximately 6,000 competitors are anticipated to join this year’s race.

The Event Village commences operations at 8am within University Parks, with the 10k warm-up session starting at 9.30am.

Competitors will proceed to the start pens at 9.35am and subsequently make their way to the Banbury Road start point at 9.45am.

The 10k race kicks off at 10am, while the Event Village shuts its doors at 1pm.

A diverse field is anticipated, comprising university students, club runners, and recreational participants.

The course additionally accommodates individuals running with strollers as well as wheelchair users.
