Large police operation at Oxford address after letterbox examination reveals incident

Published on

Emergency services attended an incident at a property in Oxford on Thursday, March 26, with officers seen inspecting a letterbox while a significant operation took place and a street was cordoned off.

Paramedics, firefighters and police officers were sent to Hollow Way in the Cowley district at approximately 1pm.

Witnesses reported that emergency services personnel remained stationed close to Ivy Close throughout the afternoon. Thames Valley Police set up a road block in the vicinity.

At noon, one nearby resident stated that Hollow Way was inaccessible to both traffic and foot passengers at Ivy Close, with police and fire services present.

A second resident described watching multiple police officers, firefighters and ambulance staff at the scene.

The individual noted that staff were speaking through the letterbox but did not know what had occurred.

The road restrictions caused disruptions to bus services, with Stagecoach diverting its number 10 and 600 routes via the bypass.

The bus operator announced that passengers should allow extra time on these services and that additional information would follow.

Spokespeople for Thames Valley Police and Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said they could not share further information when approached.

Additional details will be released when they become available.
