Warm acknowledgments are being shared following the death of a prominent local entrepreneur who was lovingly referred to as ‘Mister Bicester’.
Benjamin James Jackson, who died on April 6, dedicated his life to advancing the town and was a well-known supporter of numerous enterprises, inhabitants, and community initiatives.
Mr Jackson entered the world at Bicester Cottage Hospital on September 15, 1960.
Growing up in Bicester, he played a central role in the family enterprise, B Jackson Bicester Limited, which contributed significantly to shaping much of central Bicester through its construction projects.
Following the company’s closure, he remained devoted to the community by serving as director of Heri-Tage, an organization focused on preserving historical buildings including the Bicester Methodist Church.
Mr Jackson subsequently established 2Bs Management Consultancy, a position he held until shortly before his passing.
He was a committed backer of Bicester Vision and frequently provided advice to members of the Bicester Village board.
Outside his career, Mr Jackson had a passion for railways and served as director of the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre in Quainton, contributing numerous volunteer hours to its development and maintenance.
He is survived by his wife Samantha and children Jennifer and Daniel.
Much of his advocacy stemmed from his deep love for his son Daniel, who has severe autism.
Mr Jackson worked relentlessly for Daniel’s rights and championed improvements for individuals with additional needs.
According to a statement from funeral arranger Helen Connor, she noted: “Ben is survived by his wife and both children, and his absence leaves a great hole that can never be filled. He is dearly loved, remembered fondly, and will always be in our hearts as we continue in life.
