Emergency crews called to tackle massive blaze at RAF station

Different fire units are tackling a major blaze that broke out at the Gloucestershire location this morning.

The substantial fire started at the Royal Air Force station in Fairford with responders sent out on Sunday morning, April 26.

Emergency services have deployed at least ten fire engines to the location, alongside medical crews and a national coordination officer.

According to posts circulating online, the roof has apparently given way because of the flames. What sparked the fire is still being looked into.

Online posts suggest the air force base is currently hosting US military personnel, though authorities have not been able to confirm this.

The present function of the structure, which formerly operated as the military shop, remains unclear.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service announced that crews were dealing with a fire at a business property in the Fairford vicinity.

Residents have been advised to keep openings sealed due to fumes drifting from the burning building.
