A devoted supporter of Oxfordshire football and family man has passed away at the age of 92.
Terry Patten, grandfather of Nik and Adam Rhodes, died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 29.
For several decades, he maintained a close connection with Thame United, regularly attending matches as his grandsons progressed through the club’s junior, youth, and senior squads.
Even after Nik and Adam concluded their playing careers, Terry continued attending Thame’s away fixtures and home games without interruption.
A statement issued by Thame United paid tribute to the longtime supporter, noting that he was a familiar figure in the spectator areas and previously served on the club committee.
The statement described him as a respected individual within the local football fraternity whose absence would be felt by all who knew him.
The funeral service has been scheduled for 12.30pm on Friday, September 18, at Amersham Crematorium.
A commemorative match will take place the following day, Saturday, September 19, at Thame United’s ground, with Nik and Adam extending an invitation to players of all ages associated with the club.
Following the match, Terry’s ashes will be interred at the venue.

Thame United holds the distinction of being among Oxfordshire’s longest-established football clubs, having been established in 1883.
The team contests its home fixtures at Meadow View Park in Thame and participates in the Southern League Division One Central.
The club, whose nickname is the Red Kites, has accumulated numerous honours at the non-league tier, including several Hellenic League championships and multiple Oxfordshire Senior Cup victories.
