A childcare provider has announced plans to establish a new facility in partnership with an Oxford institution that financed the construction of a purpose-built early years centre.
Kids Planet Day Nurseries, identified among the nation’s prominent childcare operators, confirmed it would be increasing its presence with a sixth establishment to serve the university community.
The Garden House Nursery will commence operations in September at 96 Woodstock Road, providing accommodation for more than 50 young children whose parents work or study at University College, Oxford.
The arrangement between the nursery company and the institution stems from the college’s investment in a purpose-built setting for early childhood education, which will accommodate youngsters up to the age of five and generate 18 employment positions in the local area.
The facility derives its designation from the former residence of Geoffrey Beard, who passed away in 2015 and held prominence as an Oxford architect.
The construction occupies the site of the original Garden House building and has been developed to maintain its identifiable architectural style, featuring a mono-pitched roof design and elevated clerestory windows.
Children attending the nursery will have access to generously sized interior spaces alongside secure external play zones.
The programme includes meals prepared by an on-site chef, support for children with special educational needs and disabilities, and a curriculum centred on outdoor and environmental learning experiences.
