A long-established British care charity has adopted a new name reflecting its enduring commitment to helping others.
The organisation previously known as Saint John of God Hospitaller Services assists the Salesian Sisters in Oxford.
It will now be identified as The Do Good Charity.
The chosen name references charitable traditions established in the 16th century by Saint John of God and the Fatebenefratelli in Italy.
The Italian term translates as Do Good Brothers.
Paul Bott serves as chief executive of the newly renamed organisation.
The charity has maintained operations in Britain since 1880.
It currently provides care, accommodation and specialist assistance to over 1,800 individuals on a monthly basis across 60 different communities.
Within Oxford, the charity manages Elmthorpe Convent Domiciliary Care in Cowley.
This service supports members of the Salesian Sisters residing at Elmthorpe Convent.
The Care Quality Commission has awarded the service a rating of Good.
The chief executive explained that the rebrand brings the organisation’s purpose into clear, accessible language.
He also noted that it serves as an open invitation to others.
The charity has stated that its operations, workforce and dedication to those it serves will remain consistent following the change of name.
The organisation works alongside religious orders to preserve their spiritual traditions while providing professional care services.
