Campaigners opposed to hunting disrupted a gathering of the Bicester Hunt with Whaddon Chase at Red House Farm in Upper Catesby on the morning in question.
The West Midlands Hunt Saboteurs group, which advocates against hunting practices, announced that their intervention had prevented the scheduled meet from proceeding as intended.
According to the organisation, the deployment of drone equipment was sufficient to halt the hunt’s activities for the day.
The Bicester Hunt with Whaddon Chase represents one of the longest-established hunting institutions in the region, maintaining operations across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.
The organisation was formally incorporated in 2003 and maintains its headquarters at kennels located in Stratton Audley, a village near Bicester.
Following implementation of the Hunting Act 2004, which prohibited traditional fox hunting with hounds, the hunt shifted its activities toward trail hunting and associated countryside pursuits.
The hunt’s operations depend significantly upon relationships with agricultural landowners and farmers who grant permission for organised events to take place across private land.
