A further person has been detained by officers investigating residential break-ins in an Oxfordshire community.
Thames Valley Police confirmed that another individual has been taken into custody in connection with multiple burglaries reported in the Abingdon area.
This development comes several weeks after a 31-year-old suspect was formally charged in relation to four separate break-ins.
Officers stated that the latest detention resulted from routine patrols conducted in Abingdon, which were specifically aimed at addressing anti-social behaviour and retail crime.
The priority crime unit has now assumed control of the investigation.
Speaking about the initial arrest, Sergeant Chris Cochrane explained that the outcome demonstrated the effectiveness of visible neighbourhood policing and the dedication of officers to protecting the local community.
He noted that by maintaining a presence in the area, acting upon information from local sources, and collaborating with residents and business owners, police had been able to identify and focus attention on those suspected of criminal activity.
Sergeant Cochrane expressed gratitude towards members of the public for their ongoing assistance and urged anyone with relevant information to contact Thames Valley Police.
The individual currently remains in police custody while inquiries proceed.
On September 1, a separate man faced proceedings at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court, having been charged with burglary offences.
Sergeant Cochrane observed at that time that the successful outcome reflected strong collaboration between the local neighbourhood team, CCTV operatives, and detectives from the priority crime unit.
He stated that through their joint efforts, authorities had managed to identify, locate, and arrest the suspected perpetrator without delay.
He emphasised that residential burglaries can cause considerable and enduring distress to those affected, and that securing convictions for such offences continues to be a key focus for the policing team serving Abingdon.
