A venue in Oxford has appeared in a new television drama featuring Tom Hardy, alongside Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
Oxford Stadium on Sandy Lane, which stages greyhound racing events and serves as the base for Oxford Speedway, provided the setting for the opening sequence of the most recent series of Paramount’s crime drama MobLand.
Ronan Bennett serves as the creator of the programme, which centres on Hardy’s character who operates as a fixer for the Harrigan criminal organisation.
The inaugural series debuted on March 30, 2025, while the second series launched on September 18 of the same year, with episodes distributed on a weekly basis concluding in November.
Multiple locations throughout Oxfordshire have featured in the production, including The Falkland Arms situated at The Green in Great Tew, close to Chipping Norton.
The establishment, a 16th-century public house, appeared during the first series when filming crews were observed on location in November 2025.
Reports emerged regarding disagreements among certain cast members during the shooting of the current season.
Brosnan, previously known for portraying James Bond, characterised the speculation as minor and inconsequential.
According to accounts, Hardy was said to have kept other performers waiting, while accusations surfaced regarding conflicts between the actor and the show’s co-creators Ronan Bennett and Jez Butterworth.
Some believed he would not participate in a third series.
Brosnan, aged 73, stated that the situation had been blown out of proportion, expressing considerable admiration for his co-star and affirming that the production team remained unified.
