The draft Local Plan 2043, produced by West Oxfordshire District Council, has entered its final phase of public engagement.
Residents and interested parties have until October 9 to submit their comments before the document proceeds to independent review.
The blueprint establishes the council’s approach to expansion and change through to 2043.
It proposes residential development, job creation, and enhancements to community facilities.
The strategy also tackles pressing matters including accessible housing, transportation networks, environmental sustainability, and wildlife conservation.
This Regulation 19 consultation examines whether the proposal meets legal requirements and satisfies the soundness criteria.
For a local plan to be deemed sound, it must demonstrate robust preparation based on factual evidence, provide clear justification for its proposals, prove capable of implementation, and conform to national planning guidance.
Witney Town Council has urged local people to engage with the process.
The authority emphasised that anyone with a connection to the town should seize the opportunity to ensure community needs and concerns are reflected in the final document.
The current proposal draws upon extensive research conducted over several years.
The council has previously consulted the public on four separate occasions since 2022, gathering input to shape the draft framework.
All representations received during this consultation window will be reviewed by the Planning Inspectorate as part of the independent examination.
