SERIOUS TRAFFIC DISRUPTION ON OXFORD BYPASS A traffic obstruction has caused significant disruption on the A34 near Oxford, with motorists experiencing considerable delays throughout the morning.
The incident resulted in northbound queues of up to 26 minutes between the Hinksey Hill Interchange and Junction 9 of the M40, according to traffic monitoring reports.
The blockage occurred on the Western By-Pass Road stretch between the A420 at Botley Interchange and the A44 Woodstock Road at Peartree Interchange, causing partial closure of the northbound carriageway.
Travel conditions deteriorated with average speeds dropping to approximately 15mph in both directions.
The congestion extended from the A423 Southern By-Pass Road at Hinksey Hill Interchange through to the A44 Woodstock Road at Peartree Interchange.
Gradual improvement was observed northbound as the morning progressed, with delay times decreasing to around seven minutes.
Southbound traffic between Kidlington and the A420 Botley Interchange continued to experience increased volumes with similarly reduced speeds.
By late morning, the obstruction had been removed and traffic flow returned to normal on both carriageways.
No further warnings were issued by traffic monitoring services.
