Thames Valley Police is inviting members of the public to discover behind-the-scenes operations at its upcoming open day event.

The summer showcase will take place on September 19 at the force’s training facility located in Sulhamstead, close to Reading.

The programme offers a full schedule of demonstrations, exhibitions and hands-on experiences for attendees of all ages.

Guests attending the event can observe live presentations from the Mounted Section, interact with police dogs alongside their handlers and tour the Thames Valley Police Museum.

Deputy Chief Constable Ben Snuggs expressed enthusiasm about the occasion, stating that the force was pleased to welcome visitors to the 2026 Open Day.

The event was described as providing an excellent chance for the public to encounter officers, staff members and volunteers who form part of Thames Valley Police, while gaining insight into the diverse duties carried out by the organisation to support local communities.

A wide variety of displays, interactive demonstrations and information stalls were promised, with the event positioned as an entertaining outing suitable for families.

The force indicated it took pride in the services delivered and looked forward to a pleasant shared experience with attendees.

The programme runs between 10am and 4pm, with final admission at 3.30pm.

Entry to the event is complimentary, and visitors may bring their own food for picnics.

Family-oriented activities feature prominently, alongside opportunities to learn about career possibilities within the force.

A notable exhibit includes a young sapling from the famed Sycamore Gap tree, which was felled in Northumberland, now growing at the venue.

Parking facilities are provided without charge, while catering options for food and beverages will be accessible, with card payments the only method accepted.
