Gas infrastructure improvement works will necessitate the closure of a road in Goring-on-Thames for a period approaching four months.

The affected section spans Battle Road from Cedarwood House to Cedar Wood Cottage.

Commencement is scheduled for August 24, with an anticipated completion date of December 11.

The closure will operate continuously throughout each day, with traffic management signage deployed to inform road users of the restrictions in place.

Oxfordshire County Council has enacted the closure pursuant to provisions contained within the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Certain exemptions apply, specifically for emergency service vehicles and for access to properties that possess no alternative means of entry other than via the sealed portion of highway.

A suggested alternative route has been established for motorised traffic.

Drivers will be directed along Battle Road, proceeding onto Elvendon Road, then Wallingford Road, followed by Reading Road, the B4526, Goring Road, and finally Elvendon Lane.

The traffic regulation order remains valid for a maximum period of eighteen months or until such time as the maintenance works are fully concluded, whichever occurs first.

Additionally, a public footpath situated adjacent to 11 Nuns Acre will also be subject to closure to facilitate gas replacement works being undertaken on behalf of SGN.

This footpath restriction commences on October 12 and is projected to conclude by November 13.

Temporary traffic regulation orders pertaining to footpaths carry a maximum permitted duration of six months.
