A fresh monthly gathering has been established to provide agricultural workers with opportunities to socialise, discuss shared difficulties, and obtain assistance, with the inaugural session scheduled to take place at Jeremy Clarkson’s establishment.

Blenheim Palace has introduced The Not-Coffee Coffee Morning through collaboration with Thames Valley Police and the National Farmers’ Union.

This programme seeks to promote the mental health and welfare of agricultural professionals and their employees throughout Oxfordshire and surrounding areas.

Meetings will move between various agricultural locations on a rotating basis and are intended to alleviate loneliness while fostering an atmosphere where candid discussion can flourish.

The initial gathering is slated for September 16 at The Farmer’s Dog venue.

Merilyn Davies, who serves as head of community engagement at Blenheim Palace, explained that the coffee morning concept emerged as a logical extension of the palace’s yearly Rural Crime Farming Conference.

She noted that farming frequently involves professional isolation and considerable stress, prompting organisers to establish a dependable forum for farmers and their relatives to congregate, develop relationships, and obtain help.

She added that the involvement of Thames Valley Police’s Rural Crime Task Force and the NFU made them obvious collaborators for implementing the initiative.

The programme was conceived amid increasing worries regarding the economic, environmental, and societal obstacles confronting the farming sector.

Nathan Boyd, county adviser for the NFU covering Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire, observed that agriculture constitutes a demanding trade.

He pointed out that the decline in agricultural exhibitions, livestock auctions, and community gatherings over recent decades has created a void.

He expressed that the time had arrived for farmers to have a straightforward option to meet peers informally, without commercial expectations, purchasing requirements, or pressure to accept recommendations, simply to enjoy conversation over refreshments.
