Family of Dylan Delorie, 25, seeks overseas treatment for rare cancer

A Buckinghamshire resident in his mid-twenties received a devastating cancer diagnosis mere weeks after playing a central role in his mother’s wedding celebrations.

Dylan Delorie, who resides in High Wycombe with established family connections throughout Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, learned in late April that he had developed Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour, an uncommon and highly aggressive malignancy.

The young man had participated in what many consider one of life’s most joyful occasions just weeks prior to his diagnosis.

On April 9, he escorted his mother Charlene down the aisle during her marriage ceremony.

A subsequent routine medical appointment revealed the presence of the rare cancer, fundamentally altering his circumstances and those of his loved ones.

Treatment commenced at Churchill Hospital in Oxford under the supervision of a dedicated sarcoma specialist unit.

Delorie has undergone five sessions of VDC/IE chemotherapy, though recent imaging detected escalating tumour activity, prompting clinicians to transition him to an alternative therapeutic approach.

Seeking additional options, his relatives are investigating international possibilities, with particular interest in American facilities where experimental programmes and more intensive surgical interventions may offer supplementary avenues for care.

A crowdfunding initiative has accumulated £30,000 to assist with treatment expenses and facilitate access to alternatives potentially unavailable through the NHS.

His family established the campaign to prevent financial constraints from limiting future treatment possibilities, and expressed astonishment at the public response.

Delorie, employed in web development, harbours strong interests in technology, gaming, and global travel.

Prior to his diagnosis, he had recently purchased a property alongside his partner Jasmine.

Those close to him regard him as an exceptional individual and confirm his commitment to confronting the illness with determination.

His relatives hope that publicising his experience will accomplish dual objectives: securing essential funds for his continued treatment and enhancing understanding of DSRCT among medical professionals and families who may encounter the condition.

They believe that by recounting his journey, they might assist other patients in recognising symptoms earlier, connect affected families with relevant support networks, and provide reassurance to those navigating similar circumstances.
