Orchard Meadow Primary School has been recognised for its sporting achievements after securing the School Games Gold Mark accreditation.

The Oxford-based institution met the required standards set by the government initiative, which highlights educational establishments demonstrating excellence in providing physical activity and competitive opportunities for students.

Principal Emilie Fidler expressed satisfaction with the achievement, stating that the accolade validates the quality of the school’s sports programme.

The institution has prioritised encouraging young people to embrace energetic and wholesome lifestyles, investing considerable effort into developing a sporting curriculum accessible to all students.

Collaborative relationships with neighbouring educational institutions including Radley College, the University of Oxford, and The Oxford Academy have broadened the range of competitive sporting opportunities available to pupils.

A dedicated focus on accessibility has seen Orchard Meadow expand its provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring comprehensive participation across the student body regardless of individual capabilities.

Ms Fidler indicated that while competitive athletics provide valuable experiences, the school remains equally committed to guaranteeing involvement for every young person irrespective of talent or preference.

Plans are in place to further develop and enrich the sporting provisions on offer at the primary school in subsequent academic years.
