The Sun has reported that Joe Swash’s Channel 4 culinary programme Batch from Scratch: Cooking For Less has been cancelled.

The series, which premiered in February 2025 alongside food expert Suzanne Mulholland, drew an average audience of 1.1 million viewers.

Its objective was to assist households in creating affordable, nutritious meals through bulk preparation techniques.

The programme was also designed to establish the former EastEnders performer as a recognised figure in family-oriented entertainment, drawing parallels with his spouse Stacey Solomon, a former Loose Women panellist.

According to a source who spoke to The Sun, the progression from soap opera performer to television presenter to culinary specialist did not unfold as smoothly as executives had anticipated.

Channel 4 had previously invited families to submit applications for a second instalment, describing the programme as in pre-production and scheduled for broadcast the following year.

At the time, Mulholland and Swash released a joint statement indicating their enthusiasm for continuing to promote batch cooking techniques and their aspiration to collaborate once more in improving family households across Britain.

The format involved assisting families in conserving both time and finances through large-scale meal preparation, with particular emphasis on wholesome nutrition and streamlined kitchen practices.

Despite the programme’s cancellation, Swash has persisted in sharing batch cooking material on his Instagram account, with footage recorded at his family residence in Essex.

The family occupies Pickle Cottage alongside Solomon and their three children, aged seven, five and three respectively.

Swash also has a 19-year-old son, Harry, from an earlier relationship, while Solomon is mother to two teenage sons aged 18 and 14.

In a recent Instagram post, Swash indicated his return to the kitchen and intention to publish videos demonstrating batch cooking methods for himself, Solomon and their children.
