A performance evening highlighting student talent was held at a Didcot arts venue, with young dancers from a local secondary school taking centre stage.

The event at Cornerstone Arts Centre on Friday, March 13, featured performers from Years 7 through 11 at Aureus School, alongside invited guest artists and former students.

Amy King, who leads the performing arts department, explained that the occasion served as an opportunity to recognise artistic expression, teamwork, and stage performance, uniting pupils from different year groups on a professional venue’s stage.

The programme included work developed through classroom studies, extra-curricular activities, and pieces choreographed independently by students.

The school, which operates within the GLF Schools academy trust, is situated in the Great Western Park area of Didcot in Oxfordshire.

Approximately two hundred audience members attended the production, which also included an appearance by ML7 Dance.

The company is operated by an alumna who has since founded her own dance school in the local area.

According to Miss King, welcoming the company back to perform represented a recognition of the school’s broader community.

The group’s contribution added considerable vigour to the programme and provided current students with a tangible illustration of the possibilities available to those pursuing a dedicated interest in dance.
