Emergency services responded to Folly Bridge on the evening of Thursday, August 27.

The incident occurred in the vicinity of Abingdon Road shortly before midnight.

Local observers reported the presence of police officers alongside fire and ambulance personnel at the scene.

Reports indicated that an individual entered the water but was subsequently recovered and received medical attention.

Thames Valley Police confirmed that officers attended to support Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service personnel.

A force spokesperson declined to elaborate on operational details.

However, Oxfordshire County Council asserted that the fire service had not been dispatched to any occurrence at Folly Bridge, contradicting the police account.

Earlier this year, the same fire service attended a separate emergency at the location in March.

Crews rescued an adult passenger from a narrowboat that struck Folly Bridge, becoming lodged against a bridge support pillar.

The collision resulted in significant disruption to traffic flow.
