A specialist home furnishings retailer has established a permanent presence in the Cotswolds after years of operating from temporary locations.
The Basket Room has unveiled its new showroom and creative base at Worcester Road Trading Park in Chipping Norton, marking a significant milestone for the venture founded over a decade ago.
The business was established in 2014 by Holly McMullen, who graduated from Oxford Brookes University.
The company partners with artisan weaving collectives throughout Africa to produce handwoven storage items and interior accessories.
Initially launched in Charlbury, the company subsequently operated from a series of temporary premises before securing this dedicated facility.
The Chipping Norton site incorporates customer-facing retail areas alongside operational functions including packing operations, administrative offices, warehousing capacity and a dedicated space for product photography.
This layout aligns with the vertically integrated methodology the company has maintained since its inception.
The launch represents the culmination of ambitions held by the founder since childhood.
The development incorporated sustainable building practices, with reclaimed resources, pre-owned furnishings and carefully selected vintage items used throughout the transformation.
The retailer plans to cultivate stronger local ties and engage with fellow creative professionals in the region through joint initiatives, temporary retail events and displays.
Trading hours at the new establishment run from 9am to 5pm on weekdays and 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.
