A section of highway in southern Oxfordshire is set to undergo a five-day closure to facilitate infrastructure improvements.
Sunnyside, located within the village of Benson, will be inaccessible to traffic from September 15 through September 19.
During this period, alternative routes will be signposted directing motorists along Littleworth Road, Watlington Road and Hale Road.
The closure has been implemented to enable Thames Water to establish a fresh water supply connection along the affected route.
Official documentation pertaining to the highway restriction indicates that the utility provider will be conducting the installation works.
Representatives from Benson Parish Council released a communication confirming that the road would be unavailable throughout the specified timeframe while the new connection proceeded.
The statement advised that pedestrian access for local residents and emergency service vehicles would be preserved wherever feasible.
The posted diversionary path would funnel traffic along the aforementioned alternative roads.
The council expressed appreciation for public understanding during the construction phase.
Thames Water has been systematically renewing its pipe network since April 2025, having replaced more than 100 kilometres of aging water mains.
This programme represents the most extensive overhaul of the company’s infrastructure in 150 years.
