An investigation has been opened following a fire in Oxford that required a multi-crew response from emergency services.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue personnel were dispatched to Hyacinth Walk in Greater Leys on Tuesday, August 25, arriving shortly before 21:00.

Firefighters from three stations responded with four appliances.

Crews from Rewley Road, Slade Park and Wheatley stations encountered flames within a garage structure that posed an immediate risk to neighbouring residential properties.

Wearing protective breathing apparatus and operating high-pressure hose lines, the crews extinguished the blaze and prevented flames from reaching adjacent houses and other garages.

A representative for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the emergency call was logged at 20:48.

Personnel in breathing apparatus deployed high-pressure hose reels to contain the fire before it could cause additional damage to nearby properties.

The emergency teams departed the location approximately three hours later, with investigators remaining on site to examine the incident.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established, according to the service.

The incident occurred amid a series of fire-related emergencies in and around Oxford recently.

Another blaze at Redbridge Park & Ride was also reported on the same date.

Emergency service vehicles were observed at the Hyacinth Walk location throughout the operation, which necessitated closures to both bus services and private vehicles while crews worked at the scene.
