A motorist has been detained by officers in Henley on suspicion of driving while over the legal alcohol limit, with a young passenger present in the vehicle.

Thames Valley Police’s local officers for the Henley area confirmed that a vehicle was stopped by patrols and subsequent testing revealed the driver’s alcohol reading was three times the permitted level.

Upon halting the car, authorities found a child seated in the rear of the vehicle.

According to the constabulary, the individual was taken into custody and processed through the appropriate procedures.

A representative for the force stated that operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs endangers lives and would not be accepted under any circumstances.

The spokesperson indicated that Thames Valley Police remained committed to actively identifying those who commit such offences and would implement stringent measures to maintain road safety for all users.

Members of the public were advised to contact authorities if they believed an individual was operating a vehicle while unfit to do so, with 999 to be dialled in any emergency situation requiring immediate response.
