Housing provider Stonewater has begun work on Deerfields Farm, a new affordable housing development in Bodicote, near Banbury, North Oxfordshire.
The project is being delivered with Snowdon Homes and will create 26 homes on a brownfield site, reducing pressure for housing development on greenfield land.
Stonewater’s Head of Development (Central), Arthur Gottt, said the scheme represented an expansion of the provider’s work in Bodicote and reflected its commitment to affordable homes for local residents.
He added that demand for affordable housing remained strong across North Oxfordshire and that Deerfields Farm would help people find a safe and secure home near family, employment and local services.
The housing mix will include 21 homes for social rent and five properties available through shared ownership.
Measures to improve energy efficiency are planned for every home, including air-source heat pumps, solar panels and electric-vehicle charging points.
Public open space and a commissioned artwork will form part of the development through Stonewater’s public art programme.
Snowdon Homes group managing director John Leydon said work had recently started at the site and described the beginning of construction as an important milestone.
He said the two housing providers would continue working together with the wider project team as the scheme progressed.
Funding for the development has been provided by Homes England through its Social and Affordable Homes Programme.
