The West Oxfordshire Business Breakfast was held at the Hexagon Business Centre in Witney on October 1, drawing political leaders, business owners, and industry representatives together to examine development opportunities and regional challenges.

Duncan Enright, who serves as deputy leader of West Oxfordshire District Council, launched proceedings by underlining the significance of economic development and community involvement.

He further addressed the forthcoming reorganisation to a single unitary authority scheduled for April 2028, when West Oxfordshire and Cherwell will merge to form the new North Oxfordshire Council.

Charlie Maynard, the local MP, discussed what had motivated his entry into politics while outlining the principal difficulties confronting enterprises in the area.

The MP stated that regulatory bodies were failing to support and protect local businesses.

He pinpointed business rates, sluggish economic expansion, and elevated energy expenses as significant obstacles.

Maynard additionally urged increased investment in railway infrastructure.

He expressed his conviction that decision-making authority should remain with local communities.

The gathering also included presentations on cyber security, workplace health and wellbeing, and the importance of heritage industries to the regional economy.

Sinead Comerford, who attended the event, commented that the occasion had proved highly informative and that it was always valuable to hear directly from local politicians regarding their plans and strategies for the area.
