An independent coffee company established in Oxford nearly two decades ago is expanding beyond its home county with the launch of a new venue.
Missing Bean, which opened its first café 17 years ago, operates seven locations across Oxfordshire including sites in Iffley, Botley, Cowley, Abingdon, Woodstock and Charlbury.
The business will open its eighth establishment and first outside the county in Maidenhead next month.
The forthcoming venue represents what the company describes as an exciting new chapter.
Unlike the existing daytime-only cafés, the new site will function as both a coffee shop and a wine bar.
Patrons can expect the full Missing Bean coffee offering during daylight hours, while evenings will bring Italian and Basque-inspired cuisine featuring cicchetti, pintxos, sharing boards and charcuterie selections.
Ori Halup, co-founder and managing director of Missing Bean, commented that Maidenhead had been under consideration for several years and expressed enthusiasm about finally launching the new venture.
Halup noted that construction delays had provided an unexpected opportunity to refine the concept and ensure it aligned with the company’s identity.
The company outlined three fundamental principles that would remain central to all operations: product and service quality, prioritising genuine connections with staff and customers, and maintaining ethical standards even when more straightforward alternatives exist.
Halup expressed confidence in the Maidenhead location and anticipation for welcoming visitors.
The venue will occupy the ground floor of the newly constructed Tempo Building on Grenfell Road, positioned directly opposite Maidenhead Railway Station.
Trading will commence at 7am on Thursday, October 8.
