A consultation has been launched regarding proposals to enhance safety on roads in the local area.
The plans centre on Bicester Road in Gosford and Water Eaton, encompassing the installation of a toucan crossing, designated bus stop clearways, and infrastructure for shared cycling and walking use.
Oxfordshire County Council is spearheading the initiative, with the aim of facilitating safe movement for pedestrians and cyclists in support of an upcoming residential scheme on Water Eaton Lane.
The proposals also seek to address broader road safety concerns for all users in the vicinity.
The toucan crossing would be positioned approximately 265 metres south of the Water Eaton Lane junction, enabling both pedestrians and cyclists to cross safely.
Two bus stop clearways, each measuring 13 metres in length, would be established on opposite sides of the road.
The eastern clearway would be situated 44 metres north of the crossing, while the western counterpart would be located 66 metres north of the same point.
A three-metre-wide shared-use path would run along the eastern side of the carriageway, linking the new residential development to the crossing.
Additional footway improvements between the bus stop and crossing could follow if the plans receive approval.
The county council will evaluate all feedback submitted during the consultation period.
Should substantive objections emerge, a comprehensive report would be prepared for the Cabinet Member for Highway Management.
The public would have the opportunity to attend and present their views at the relevant meeting, which is anticipated to take place later in 2026.
