The Waitrose branch in Witney commemorated four decades of trading with a day of activities and celebrations marking the milestone on Wednesday, September 16.
The Oxfordshire store first opened its doors in 1986, having been constructed on land previously occupied by the Woolgate Centre.
The 40th anniversary occasion saw the retailer host festivities for shoppers throughout the premises.
The initial 40 visitors to the shop were presented with gift bags containing No.1 Prosecco, chocolates and crackers sourced from the Waitrose No.1 product range.
A rotating prize wheel provided further giveaways to customers browsing the aisles, while a competition offered the chance to win a food hamper.
Branch manager Xen Tzambazles expressed pride in the achievement, noting that four decades had elapsed since the store first began trading.
The manager stated that the day served as an opportunity to acknowledge devoted customers who had become known faces over the years, and to recognise the dedication of Partners whose efforts enriched both the shopping environment and the surrounding community.
Visual displays showcased the evolution of staff uniforms worn at the establishment across different periods, alongside imagery documenting the building process and subsequent improvements carried out at the location.
Prior to the current branch, another Waitrose outlet had served the town from 1969.
An event for present and past Partners accompanied the public celebrations, with each attendee receiving a commemorative token to mark the occasion.
Among those honoured for extended service was Kevin Wise, whose tenure with the John Lewis Partnership spans 46 years, including 36 years at the Witney establishment.
Jayne Richie, who commenced employment at the original Witney branch, was also acknowledged for reaching four decades of continuous service.
Luke Viner, another long-serving team member, joined the store 24 years prior and encountered his future spouse Tasha during his time there.
