A fish and chip establishment in Oxford has disclosed sales figures spanning the duration of a major road closure in the city.
Harrisons Fish & Chips, situated in Elms Parade in the Botley area, announced the quantities of product sold since Botley Road was closed to traffic in April 2023.
The thoroughfare is scheduled to resume operations on Sunday, September 20, bringing relief to traders who attributed reduced business to the infrastructure project.
During the three and a half years when Botley Road remained inaccessible, Harrisons sold 40,994 kilograms of chips, 11,124 kilograms of cod, 2,875 kilograms of haddock and 890 kilograms of alternative white fish varieties.
The shop also secured the Menu Innovation award at the National Fish and Chip Awards ceremony, which took place at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
Additionally, Harrisons was shortlisted for the national best takeaway prize, though the establishment ultimately missed out on the top honour to a competitor from York.
