Michael Whitehall has expressed his views regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly settling in the Cotswolds.
The 86-year-old comedian and actor shared his perspective during an episode of The Wittering Whitehalls podcast.
Following the couple’s arrival in Birmingham on August 26, they planned an extended stay in the United Kingdom at a private residence located in the Cotswolds region.
When his spouse Hilary raised the subject of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocating to their neighbourhood, she indicated that her husband displayed minimal enthusiasm for an introduction.
Michael confirmed this assessment, responding with a direct admission of disinterest.
He further clarified his position by characterising the royal couple as irrelevant figures in his life, dismissing them entirely.
Hilary lightheartedly noted that podcast listeners had been spared an extensive outburst she received when the initial reports emerged about Harry and Meghan’s return.
She added that Michael had moderated his commentary since that initial reaction.
Despite his dismissive stance toward Harry and Meghan, Michael spoke favourably of Catherine, Princess of Wales, describing himself as an admirer of her character and praising her warmly.
Catherine is married to Prince William.
Royal correspondent Simon Vigar explained that Harry and Meghan’s potential move to the Cotswolds could stem from the Duke’s nostalgic connections to the area, existing social ties, and convenient access to nearby airports.
Vigar also suggested that the rural location might offer the couple greater seclusion compared to metropolitan London.
