A well-known poultry and pizza establishment in Oxfordshire has successfully regained an excellent hygiene rating after receiving a disappointing score earlier in the year.
USA Fried Chicken and Pizza, situated on Corn Street in Witney, initially received a one-out-of-five rating following an inspection by West Oxfordshire District Council environmental health officers in July.
Following a subsequent inspection conducted in September, the business has now achieved the top rating of five out of five.
The establishment, which maintains strong support among the local community, faced initial concerns regarding its food safety management procedures.
The inspection report indicated that significant improvements were required in the systems and practices ensuring food safety, including evidence of staff knowledge regarding hygiene protocols and confidence that standards would be sustained going forward.
Two additional areas also required attention at the time of the first assessment.
The handling of food, encompassing preparation, cooking, reheating, cooling and storage practices, was marked for improvement.
Similarly, the cleanliness and condition of the premises, including the appropriate layout, ventilation, handwashing facilities and pest control measures necessary for maintaining proper hygiene standards, were flagged as requiring enhancement.
The September re-inspection, however, resulted in positive findings across all evaluated aspects of the takeaway operation.
The establishment has long served as a favoured dining option for both residents and visitors to Witney.
The menu features a variety of offerings including chicken dishes, pizza, chips and cheese.
