Jurors are determining their verdicts in proceedings against an individual facing an attempted murder accusation.
Romario Qatja stands among eight men whose cases are being heard following events that occurred on September 13 last year.
The accused, who is 31 years old and resides in Pipkin Way, Oxford, faces a series of charges comprising attempted murder, causing serious injury through dangerous driving, affray, and wounding with intent.
He previously entered not guilty pleas to the charges, which include the attempted murder of Rabar Pirot following an alleged altercation on St Clement’s.
Jurors had previously heard that Alan Mohammadi was allegedly assaulted outside Hank’s Bar on Queen Street during the early hours of that same day.
On September 14, Judge Ian Pringle KC presented the evidence to the jury, which began its deliberations at approximately 3pm.
Jurors had previously heard testimony from Mr Pirot.
He stated that a vehicle was employed as a weapon against him, resulting in a broken leg.
The car travelled at considerable speed towards him and his companions.
He experienced significant pain and observed that his leg had sustained fractures.
His head collided with the windscreen.
The vehicle subsequently halted but attempted to strike other individuals present.
The car then reversed in an effort to continue its assault.
When questioned about whether the vehicle struck him again, he confirmed that it did not, as one of his companions dragged him away by his jacket.
He noted that the driver was clearly targeting him specifically and attempting to kill him.
Jurors also heard the defence statement presented on behalf of Qatja.
It claimed that an individual associated with a Kurdish group leapt onto his windscreen while another member of that group approached the passenger side of his vehicle.
He maintained that he stopped the car to prevent harm to members of the Kurdish group.
The vehicle became surrounded by members of that group who proceeded to attack it.
The car entered reverse gear rather than moving forward.
He stated that had he not escaped the Kurdish group, he would have been attacked and killed.
Additional defendants are alleged to have been observed carrying weapons, including a sword and a wooden implement, on that same date.
Samyan Khdir, aged 22 and from Poplar High Street in London, faces a charge of possessing an offensive weapon, specifically a sword, on Rectory Road.
Eyub Hussani, aged 26 and from Warley Avenue in Dagenham, faces a charge of possessing an offensive weapon, specifically a long wooden object, at the same location.
Gabriel Dos Santos, aged 28 and from Richmond Road in Oxford; Arger Poleshi, aged 20; and Armanto Tzourtzi, aged 24, face charges of affray.
Indrit Ndoj, aged 35 and from St Martins Road in Oxford, and Fiqiri Noka, aged 27 and from Mogridge Drive in Oxford, also face affray charges.
Tzourtzi, Poleshi, Noka, Ndoj and Dos Santos entered not guilty pleas to the affray charges.
Khdir and Hussani entered not guilty pleas to the offensive weapon possession charges.
The case continues at Oxford Crown Court.
