Oxford is preparing for four consecutive nights of road closures as final works are carried out before Botley Road resumes traffic flow on Sunday.
Each closure will operate between 8pm and 6am.
On Monday, September 14, the affected section stretched from Mill Street to Ferry Hinksey Road, with surface improvements carried out between Mill Street and Bridge Street.
The following night, the same stretch from Mill Street to Ferry Hinksey Road remained closed while resurfacing continued between Bridge Street and Ferry Hinksey Road.
During these two evenings, buses departing from Seacourt Park and Ride will end their journeys at Ferry Hinksey Road rather than continuing further.
On Wednesday and Thursday, September 17, overnight closures will cover the section between Ferry Hinksey Road and Binsey Lane, with activities taking place throughout the entire closed portion.
Both Wednesday and Thursday nights will see all bus services conclude at Seacourt Park and Ride, while vehicle access to and from Ferry Hinksey Road will not be permitted.
Network Rail announced on Tuesday that the road will certainly reopen on Sunday, September 20, despite earlier setbacks affecting the scheme.
The route has been blocked at the railway bridge since April 2023 to facilitate improvements connected to the major redevelopment of Oxford railway station.
The reopening had originally been scheduled for August 31 this year.
A Network Rail representative stated that Botley Road would welcome traffic again this coming Sunday, with efforts underway to have both new pedestrian walkways operational at the same time.
A decision on whether the northern walkway would open simultaneously was expected to be announced later in the week.
From Tuesday evening through to Friday morning, households on Abbey Road, Cripley Place, Rodger Dudman Way, Arthur Street, Russell Street, Millbank, and Osney Island will need to travel under the newly constructed Network Rail bridge to access their properties.
