The animal welfare organisation RSPCA is set to launch a new charity retail outlet in Oxfordshire this month.
The premises will be situated on Broadway in Didcot and will welcome visitors from Monday through Wednesday each week, between 10am and 4pm.
The shop will be managed by RSPCA Oxfordshire and Reading, a locally based branch operating as an independently registered part of the national charity.
This branch operates rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming services for animals throughout Oxfordshire, Reading and surrounding regions.
The organisation was established in March 2026 following the amalgamation of RSPCA Oxfordshire with the RSPCA Reading with Oxon Border Branch.
Together, the merged entity represents more than 150 years of combined experience in animal welfare.
The Reading branch had historical origins dating back to 1864 and operated entirely through volunteer efforts.
The merger consolidated both teams, their respective trustees and available resources under a single organisational structure.
The charity depends upon public donations, fundraising activities, volunteer contributions and broader community assistance to provide care for animals requiring support and to secure permanent, safe placements for them.
Recruitment is underway for volunteers to staff the forthcoming Didcot outlet as the charity seeks to broaden its fundraising activities to benefit animals throughout the local area.
Those offering their time will be responsible for greeting shoppers, handling transactions for both sales and donations, organising inventory, preparing merchandise for resale and designing window displays.
The shop stocks donated garments, publications, miscellaneous household items and collectables, alongside newly sourced goods.
Representatives from RSPCA Oxfordshire and Reading confirmed that all revenue generated will be allocated directly to animal welfare initiatives in Oxfordshire and Reading.
Previous retail experience would be advantageous although it is not a mandatory requirement, with comprehensive training and a structured onboarding process provided to all recruits.
Volunteers may also claim reasonable expenses for travel costs and obtain practical experience in customer-facing roles and visual merchandising.
An existing RSPCA retail presence is already established in Witney.
